These paintings have been accepted into the internationally juried exhibition, "Birds in Art" held annually at the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI. Project Postcard is held during the opening of "Birds in Art" for the museum members. The artists donate artwork for purchase, and the funds raised go to purchasing art for the museum. "If  someone thinks it looks real, it is a still life, if they think it is real, it is a trompe l'oeil"

The art of deception is created by painting various items in such a way as to give the illusion that the three dimensional items actually exist. If viewers feel compelled to touch the paintings to see if the items are real, then I feel like I have accomplished my goal. 

Like my larger images of trompe l'oeil, the art of deception is created by painting various items in such a way to give the illusion that the three dimensional actually exist. These paintings are composed on a flat piece of art board.

Capturing the character of the individual within the species, portrayed in its habitat, whether wild or domestic, is what an animal painting is all about.

The unique world of the avian species is explored, from detailed trompe l'oeil technique to impressionistic pastel, and everything in between.

The domestic animal can be easier to observe than his wild cousins, but they have a uniqueness all their own.

In the morning, I try to give an hour to an hour and a half to create an impressionistic small painting. 

A still life's subject matter, lighting and composition interact with one another to evoke the painting's inspiration in the viewer's mind.
